Compucom Finance, Inc. (CFI), is a currency management firm which has specialised in buying and selling currencies in the interbank market.
The two principals of CFI, Dr. Jens Maximilian Kothes and Professor Ronald W. Anderson, together started to analyse foreign exchange markets and currency fluctuations back in 1981.
Professor Anderson, currently Professor of Finance at the London School of Economics, Great Britain, was at the time an associate professor at Columbia University, New York. He planned and supervised the research work.
Dr. Kothes, came from an asset management background and co-ordinated with Professor Anderson both the guidelines for the research and subsequently also the marketing of CFI's products.
Professor Anderson retired from CFI in February 2003 and now acts as a contractual consultant to the firm.

Investment objective and investment policy |

 |
| |
CFI trades the major currency pairs as well as emerging market currencies through the interbank market with the objective to achieve capital gains. Trading strategies are designed for short to medium term, i.e. a time horizon of 1 to 30 days. CFI is basing its decision on a combination of several streams of input from different view points on the currency markets: Proprietary computer models, technical trading advise, fundamental analysis as well as trading contacts.
Some of the technical computerised models are short-term and first filter a currency pair for volatility, accepting it only in the event of "low volatility". Thereafter it looks for the optimal currency pair by sorting out all accepted currency pairs against each other to identify the strongest against the weakest pair. Other models are of a longer time horizon and are always in the market.
The fundamental approach is monitoring central banks' activities, changes in real interest rate differentials, current account differences, G-8 statements and interventions, etc.
